PICNIC IN THE PARK

Wasn’t it a terrific day for a Picnic in the Park?

It was great to see all the families with their picnic baskets and blankets out to enjoy the day.

We started the festivities off with a bike parade lead by Constable French and Spirit the horse.  That was very exciting!  Congratulations to Dylan Fysh, Matthew Hansen and Hailey Newman for winning the best dressed bike and to all the kids who participated in this fun event.

The HCA hopes everyone had a good time participating in the Bike Parade, the Extreme Challenge Zone, the Soak Zone, Frisbee golf and the Mini Golf Zone, Craft Zone and also with the face painting by Foot Loop the clown.  I know everyone enjoyed the cotton candy and sno cones that were being handed out too!

This Picnic in the Park could not have happened with out the generous support of these businesses:  Sunscape Tanning, Hawkwood Auto, All Smiles Dental, The Medicine Shoppe, Edward Jones, Sutton Group, Scotia Bank, Superstore, Asset West and the CSIF program.

Please show your support to these businesses  and  let them know you appreciate their participation in helping to  make Hawkwood a fun, safe place for our children and grandchildren to grow and play!

We also had 50/50 and raffle draws.  Congratulations to Shelley Rutledge for winning the 50/50 pot and to Liesl Newman and Colleen Sankey for winning the raffle baskets.

A huge thank you goes out to Jeannie Macdonald for her efforts in getting these donations for the Hawkwood Community Association and to Bill Filyk with Stardust Sounds for playing us great music all day long.  You always do a fantastic job!

Thank you also to all the awesome volunteers who came out to help put on this event and to the SOCIAL COMMITTEE for coming up with all the great ideas!

Our next event will be the WINTER FESTIVAL which will be on Sunday, February 8th.

We hope you and your family will come out and enjoy the day with us again!

If you would like to volunteer for any of the social functions or be on our committee please call Candace Hughes at 403-239-6733.
