Hawkwood 2010 Outdoor Soccer
It's already March and in about 6 weeks our Soccer Season will begin! Online registration is now closed but we still have a few spots left and are accepting late registrations. If you would like to register please contact Wanita, the Soccer Director via e-mail at soccer@hawkwoodcalgary.com.
Thank you to the Hawkwood 7-11 for allowing us to use their store to facilitate our registration drop box this year.
I also need to send out a big THANK YOU to all the parents that have volunteered already to help get things underway for our season to begin. All your help has made my transition into the Directors role easier than I was anticipating and I am very grateful. Those of you returning to fulfill past volunteer positions are especially appreciated and for those of you teaching someone else your position so they can take over for you and learn from your experience, is so important.

If you have not been contacted yet to volunteer don't worry you will be! We are close to having our teams formed and you will be notified where we still have openings, as well as what team your child is going to be on. We do our best to keep in mind what positions you have requested to volunteer for, but please remember that without Coaches we would not be able to have enough teams for all our children to play on. If you are contacted to Coach, even if it wasn't one of your volunteer choices, please consider filling that role. You can make all the difference to our Community league, to the players on your team and to your own child. Free Coaches Training is provided!
Wikipedia meaning of Volunteering: is the practice of people working on behalf of others or a particular cause without payment for their time and services. Volunteering is generally intended to promote good or improve human quality of life, but people also volunteer for their own skill development, to meet others, to make contacts for possible employment, to have fun. Volunteering takes many forms and is performed by a wide range of people.
As always we are hoping for good spring weather but it is Calgary so please come prepared for anything! We would like to start on April 19th for U4 and U6, and on April 20th for U8's. Games will be cancelled upon the discretion of each coach but will otherwise go ahead as planned. We have such a short playing season that we would like to get out there as much as possible, and since parents/guardians are required to attend we have some things for you to remember for each game.
Player:
o Shin guards (mandatory)
o Comfortable shoes to run in
o Jacket for rain
o Hoody for cold
o Hat for sun
o Toque and mittens for cold
o Layers, for all weather
o Bug spray / Sunscreen
o Water bottle (with water)
o Hand sanitizer
o Parent / Legal Guardian
Parent:
o Comfortable shoes to practice in with your kids
o Jacket and umbrella for rain
o Hoody (or parka) for cold
o Hat for sun
o Toque and mittens for cold
o Layers for all weather
o Bug spray / Sunscreen
o Chair or blanket to sit on while watching and cheering
o Choice of non-alcoholic beverage (Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water)!

- U4 born in 2006 and children born before May1, 2007
- U6 born in 2004-2005
- U8 born in 2003- 2002
All games are played on the Hawkstone fields.
U4-Monday night 6:00 pm - 6:45pm
U6- Monday night 6:30pm - 7:30pm
U8- Tuesday and Thursday night 6:15pm -7:30pm

REFUND POLICY:
I acknowledge that HAWKWOOD's Refund Policy is as follows:
- A full refund will be issued until April 1, 2009.
- After April 1, 2009, refunds will only be considered for medical reasons accompanied by a Doctor's note.
INFORMATION RELEASE WAIVER (2009):
The following are examples of how personal information on the soccer registration form may be used and disclosed for soccer related activities and are not intended as an all-inclusive list. These activities form a vital part of a healthy and functioning organization and the participation of all registrants in these activities is viewed as an important part of every player's enjoyment and development in soccer.
- The use of a registrant's name for the identification of assigned teams.
- The use of a registrant's name, address, telephone number, email address, birth date, parents'/guardians' name, address, telephone number, and email address for player identification purposes for soccer related activities.
- The use of a registrant's name, address and related contact information for the purpose of acquiring voluntary assistance.
- The use of a registrant's name, telephone number, and related contact information for changes to schedules and other soccer related activities.
- The use of a registrant's name and photo for athletic events and sport related information for community newsletters or other soccer related publications.
- The use of individual, team, or group photos taken during a soccer related event for display during soccer related functions.
- The use of photos/videos, taken by a member of the Hawkwood Community Association for educational/promotional purposes relating to the game of soccer.
- The use of a registrant's name and any health and/or related personal information to assist authorized individuals in responding to emergency situations and to assist the players who have a medical or other condition.
Please note: Photos, videos or images of players attending or participating in a soccer activity that are open to the general public may be taken by the general public and used for purposes within and outside the Hawkwood Community Association.
Parent's are under no obligation to consent: it is their voluntary decision to do so. This consent remains valid for the current soccer season only.
I being the parent/legal guardian have read and understand the information provided. By agreeing with the statement and continuing with registration I hereby voluntarily consent to the use and disclosure of the specified personal information as noted above.

LIABILITY & RISK WAIVER:
This release form is inclusive of all Hawkwood soccer programs and activities for 2009. In agreeing to this waiver, the parents and/or guardians recognize that soccer is a contact sport and that accidents and/or injuries to participants can result from the game.
I/We the Parents/Guardian(s) of the player registering to play with Hawkwood Soccer, hereby give my/our approval to his/her participation in any and all of the programs and activities of Hawkwood Soccer. I/We assume all risks and hazards incidental to the conduct of the activities including transportation to and from such activities. I/We do further hereby release, absolve, indemnify and hold harmless the coaches, managers, trainers, officials and officials appointed by Hawkwood Soccer and I/We likewise do release from responsibility any person transporting our child to and from such activities. I/We do hereby consent to the above information being provided to all authorized persons in Hawkwood Soccer, including, but not limited to, coaches, managers, coordinators and registrars.
