| | 2nd Annual Picnic in the Park Was Another Great Hit! click on the images to enlarge |
| It was a little squishy, but our 2nd Annual Picnic in the Park was another great hit! A fun time was had by all who attended, especially thanks to the fantastic music of a local band called the “Turbines” who performed throughout the festivities and to Kurtis and Dixie Bains with Home Life Central Reality for helping sponsor the great hamburgers and soda that we were able to offer free, because of their generous donation! | |
| | Another huge thank you goes out to the many local businesses that helped make this event a success. Hawkwood Auto, Hawkwood Dental, Hawkwood Fine Wine and Spirits, Hawkwood Cleaners, Hawkwood Palace, Hawkwood Husky, The Medicine Shoppe, Superstore, Edward Jones,7- eleven, Gymboree, ATCO Gas for the BBQ, KidSport Sport Shack, Kirby Cox , for donating the very popular cotton candy machine, Larry Arnfinson with CIR Reality for donating the Movie Night raffle basket, Sean and Dana Furlong for the chocolate raffle basket and Tony Schlee with the Sutton Group reality for the liqueur and chocolate raffle basket.
|
| | Volunteers are a huge part of pulling functions, like these, together. Bruce Lee, (my new best bud!)For the countless hours of hitting the pavement trying to come up with donations and all your cool new ideas on how to make this a true event- thank you and I look forward to working with you again! Teresa Hirata and JoAnne MacGregor- without your clever ideas and resources, things wouldn’t run as smoothly as they do, you gals are awesome. | |
| | Also, thank you to Lauren Kirychuk, for all her leg work in getting the food organized and having to run back to get more. You rock! Melanie Coulter, for organizing the senior activities and to Diane Heaton, for getting all the entertainment organized and doing such a great job emceeing for the day! Thank you as well to all our other volunteers who helped set up, flip burgers, serve burgers, man the raffle table, work at the very sticky cotton candy table, Bingo calling, picking up the Atco BBQ, and general running around to pick stuff up and for the dreaded clean up help. Without people like you, we could not hold social activities for this community. We would also like to thank the Youth Volunteer Corp for sending us some much needed youth volunteers to help run our Kids Passport Zones. As well as Hayley Newman, Jocelyn Heaton, Jayme McCann, Danielle Foster, Riley Steel, Madison Duncan, Melanie Gascoine, Jocy McCormack and Kennedy Hughes for donating your time to and community spirit to help us out. Thank you everyone! |
| | If you missed it, you missed all the fun. We had live entertainment, bouncy houses, crazy blow up horses, Bingo, the kids passport zone, a tot lot for the younger kids, Bingo with prizes, vendors selling their products, community service booths; like the Public Library, Woman’s health centre, and GoNaeco, the Police, Ambulance and Fire Truck were out as well. All that and FREE hamburgers, drinks and chips! | |
