Calgary Northwest Recreation Centre Update                           September 3, 2008

The Calgary Northwest Recreation Centre Society (CNRCS) has been busy over the summer.  Although we competed with summer vacations and various other potential roadblocks, we managed to continue to move forward and get closer to our goal of providing a world-class recreation centre, designed, built and operated by representatives from local communities.

We experienced a slight bump in our plans when our application for interim funding was denied by the Calgary Foundation, but we have overcome that and pushed on.

We are planning an OPEN HOUSE on September 23, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Silver Springs community centre.  At the Open House we are displaying all the work we have done to date and the plans we have going forward.  We will be there answering questions, giving presentations and getting everyone involved.

The main objective of the Open House is to share information, get people interested, and recruit volunteers.  A task of this nature requires many, many volunteers, and we are in need of this help.  We have a variety of positions available, for as many people as are available.

We want our facility to be world class.  We want people to be proud of the facility, and we want to ensure that it addresses current needs as well as future potential.  Please consider coming out to our Open House to see what is going on – and to help provide a world class recreational resource for yourself, your family and friends.

We need your input and help!
